Data Science Analyst Program - Internship

About the Internship Program:  

Our 10 Week Summer Internship Program begins in June. Your professional growth and development will be supported throughout the internship program via project work related to your professional interests, mentorship, engaging speaker series with senior leaders and more. Full-time employment offers may be extended upon successful completion of the program.

 

Our areas of focus include Big Data Analytics, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Natural Language Processing, Classical Machine Learning, Time Series, Automation, Explainability and Interpretability.

Key Qualifications include:

Pursuing a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) with an expected graduation of December 2024 - August 2025.

Knowledge of and Proficiency in Python.

Authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

 

Desirable skills include:

Knowledge of machine learning / data science theory, techniques and tools and experience working with large disparate data sets

Experience in SQL and/or R

Experience in mathematics and statistics modelling

Awareness of big data technologies (Hive, Hadoop, Spark) and standard analytical tech stacks (Jupyter Notebooks, AWS, Spark, PyTorch etc.)

Strong communication skills and the ability to present findings to a non-technical audience

About the Starbucks Summer Internship Program:  

The Starbucks Technology Internship Program is paid, full time, 11-week program (May/June – August 2024), designed to provide students with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience in a field of interest and expertise within the Starbucks Technology Enterprise. This is a pipeline for full-time talent; each student selected for a Starbucks internship may be considered for full-time career openings upon successful completion of their internship and as opportunities become available within the organization. Roles will be based out of the Seattle Support Center in Seattle, WA.

Role Description:

The Bimbo Bakeries USA Sales Co-Op program is a dynamic 5-months paid opportunity that affords students a remarkable experience to participate in fast-paced, real-world projects designed to further develop strategic project, management, analytical problem solving, and managerial leadership skills. Mentors will be designated to guide student collaborations and project work in each area. Students will be exposed to a variety of functional areas such as sales, distribution, and sales planning while earning college credits in various locations nationwide. The students will gain valuable experience and transferrable skills in the following areas:

  • Confident, self-starter, who is also results-driven and demonstrates professionalism

  • Serves in this business-critical role of Sales Analyst

  • Supplies analytical support to the Sales Technology Team to understand the customer’s performance and provide continuous optimization recommendations at both a brand and customer level

  • Creates, formats, and understands reports of information to allow a more sustainable capability for informing associates across the organization of performance opportunities with market execution

  • Provides input to the creation of, and measuring the elements of, business cases for new technology initiatives.

  • Helps to manage and communicate to field teams performing pilots or beta tests of new capabilities.

  • The ideal candidate has experience working with various customer or technical solution output datasets, distilling information, can answer the “so what” of the data, and then can pull it all together with storytelling that answers the “now what”

Compensation:

Qualifications:​

  • In pursuit of or having completed a bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or related fields.

  • Experience with Alteryx Designer, particularly ETL, data preparation and automation (Core Certification or beyond preferred, knowledge of Intelligence Suite and Server a plus).

  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially advanced Excel (index match, Power Query, VBA Macros).

  • Familiarity with healthcare and stop loss/medical insurance datasets and terminology a plus.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated, ability to prioritize time-sensitive initiatives.

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.

  • Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience manipulating and analyzing large data sets.

  • Handles confidential information in the best interest of both client and company.

Customer Engagement Business Intelligence Graduate Intern, Spring 2024

One will use a mix of technologies to develop visual solutions that provide insights on consumers and marketing activities. This role also acts as consultant within the organization to understand business opportunities and to communicate consumer insights. This opportunity will allow you to grow as a data-driven storyteller while enhancing our ability to better understand our consumers. As part of this team, you will:

  • Build BI products such as dashboards, presentations, and infographics.

  • Develop extract-transform-load (ETL) data pipelines for BI products.

  • Write technical documentation for BI products and data pipelines.

  • Present products and insights to partners.

Required Education:

  • To be eligible for this internship you must be a graduate level student, or a recent graduate (within 6 months of your application date) pursuing a Master’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Analytics, or another relevant field.

  • Analyze user behavior and data to identify areas of improvement and optimization for our mobile app.

  • Develop and maintain data models and algorithms to improve app performance and user experience.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data-driven solutions.

  • Develop and implement data-driven A/B tests to measure the impact of new features and changes.
